Empowerment para las mujeres rurales. Sur del Sudán y Honduras

El tema principal de esta edición

El tema principal de esta edición es: "la valoración de la mujer rural y su rol en la erradicación del hambre y de la pobreza, desarrollo y nuevos desafíos". La cuestión es particularmente candente a la luz de muchos desafíos que las mujeres encuentran, incluso la combinación de los efectos de inestabilidad económica global y los cambios climáticos, elementos ambos que provocan la pobreza y que aumentan las dificultades que las mujeres rurales afrontan. A pesar de la inseguridad, las mujeres que se ocupan de la tierra son expertas conocedoras de los problemas y de las necesidades de la colectividad. Por esto las mujeres han empezado a organizarse para buscar e implementar soluciones a los desafíos que hay que afrontar. Gracias a la ayuda de organizaciones humanitarias, tienen recursos naturales y métodos agrícolas tradicionales, perfeccionando la existencia del alimento, acrecentando la agricultura y generando ganancias. Este gran evento , de 10 días de duración, además de reunir a los mayores representantes de los Estados Miembros de la ONU convoca también a numerosas organizaciones no gubernamentales que trabajan en el campo, los cuales tomarán parte en conferencias que paralelamente tendrán lugar en el congreso para dar su aportación a la causa.

En los eventos paralelos estarán también las fma con un Side Event con el título "Valoración de las mujeres rurales en Honduras y Sudán del Sur, actividades características, historias y testimonios de las mujeres".

Coordinan el encuentro el IIMA, Instituto Internacional María Auxiliadora y VIDES Internacional con el apoyo de Misiones Salesianas.

La conferencia tendrá lugar el miércoles 29 de febrero desde las 18.15 a las 19.45, en el Church Center UN Building, 44th Street and 1st Avenue.

Estarán presentes en el encuentro entre otros, sor María Luisa Miranda, Consejera general para la Familia Salesiana , sor Leonor Salazar, directora general de VIDES Internacional y sor Gloria Rita James, consultora del Ámbito de la Familia Salesiana.
