Mother’s Visit in Thailand
Bangkok (Thailand)
On April 14, 2016, Yvonne Reungoat, the Mother General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, arrived in Thailand for the visit to St. Mary Mazzarello Province (THA) and to celebrate the Word Feast of Gratitude.
Mother Yvonne arrived at the Bangkok airport where she was greeted by the Provincial, Sr. Anna Tovichian; the Provincial Economer, Sr. Phonphimon Onthalai; and the Secretary, Sr. Imelda Barattino. Present from the near-by house of Hua Mak were the Superior, Sr. Margarita Perez; some sisters; and four girls of the hostel.
The girls wore Thai dresses and offered Mother the typical wreathe, expressing their welcome with the traditional greeting, Wai, to which Mother responded with warm smiles and gestures.
Mother then went to the Provincial House where the Superior, Sr. Chantra Kohasuawan, and the whole community awaited her. Sr. Chantra offered her a multi-colored wreathe and addressed a brief greeting to her followed by a festive song. All then spent some moments in Chapel to render thanks to God for the gift of Mother, who offered the wreathe to Our Lady as a sign of daughterly love in the joy of being able to live a time of grace in Thailand.
In the evening, the Sisters had organized the Celebration of the Thai New Year, Songkran. Using a graceful choreography, Sisters and animators offered water as a sign of blessing and of wishes to continue to live this time in a festive and joyful climate. Mother reciprocated the wishes for a new year of pastoral and vocational fruitfulness. She then gave everyone a small souvenir and wished them a good night.
During these days, Mother Yvonne will visit the communities of Chom Thong-Chiang Mai St. Joseph, where she will meet theEthnic girls; the community of UdonThani Our Lady of Grace, and then she will go to Sam Phran Mary Help of Christians where the World Feast of Gratitude will be celebrated on April 26th.
Mother Yvonne will continue her pilgrimage with the visit to the communities of Hat Yai Mary Help of Christians, and of Bangkok Auxilium, of Hua Mak. She will return to Rome on May 4, 2016.
