Walking in Don Bosco’s Footsteps
Lay persons and FMA of Project Mornese in the Portuguese language went in pilgrimage to Turin-Mornese from March 25 to April 8, 2016. As pilgrims in the footsteps of Don Bosco, they arrived in Turin, passing through Florence and visiting the principle plazas of the city.
At Turin- Valdocco they tasted the climate of the origins as they re-traced the times lived by Don Bosco that today represent the history of the Salesian charism. In the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians, they shared the celebratory time of the Paschal Vigil, a time of faith in the Risen Christ, the light that conquers the darkness, the life that triumphs over death. After the example of Mary, they wish to live the commandment of love.
At Valdocco, the land of Don Bosco, every angle recounts the story of the 'Saint of Youth' who, not only loved, but above all, made others feel loved. The Eucharist was celebrated in the Pinardi Chapel. They then visited the 'camerette' of Don Bosco, where until his last breath, the Saint gave his life for the young. At Colle Don Bosco, they followed the most beautiful time of his infancy, where John built his journey of growth in the faith and where he understood what to do with his life.
At Mornese, birthplace of Mother Mazzarello, they breathed the climate of simplicity and of the family of the origins of the FMA Institute.
The power of prayer and of love of God characterized the first Sisters and still today continues to be the evident sign of a passion that lights the hearts of those who pass. At Valponasca, font of love, the experience reached its climax in the contemplative look that characterizes the educational mission among the young of the world.
