NAFMA Edumedym II
Dum Dum (India)
On January 28-29, 2016, the Indian Provincial House of the Indian Province (INC) hosted the FMA national meeting of the Education, Communication, and Youth Pastoral Sectors, 'NAFFMA Edumedym', in which three national and provincial coordinators participated.
The meeting was guided by the Coordinator for Youth pastoral, Sr. Elizabeth Kaniampadickal, in collaboration with Sr. Hilda Braganza, National Coordinator of Communication, and Sr. Stella Pettoparambil, Education Coordinator. The encounter opened with the welcome of Sr. Teresa Adampakalle, Provincial Vicar, the lighting of the lamp, and a mini cultural feast of songs and dances presented by the students of Auxilium Dum Dum.
The program continued with sharing experiences: the Coordinator of Youth Pastoral read an account on the celebrations of the Bicentennial of Don Bosco in Italy, and those who had participated there, enriched us with their own experiences. Using a Power Point Presentation, Sr. Stella Pettoparambil shared the rich experience she lived at the World Congress on Catholic Education entitled, "Educate Today and Tomorrow, a Renewed Passion", held at Rome and Castel Gandolfo in November 2015 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Gravissimum Educationis and the 25th Anniversary of the Apostolic Constitution Ex Corde Ecclesiae.
After a pause, there followed the presentations of PCI. Sharing continued with Sr. Elizabeth Pothen, who illumined the participants on how to make schools Catholic and Salesian. In the afternoon, Sr. Elizabeth George, president of PCI, presented the Encyclical Letter, 'Laudato Si' of Pope Francis on the care of our common home, Mother Earth, through a very interesting video clip and a power point.
The day ended with the Good Night of Sr. Runita Borja, Youth Pastoral Councillor, through Skype. Her words of appreciation encouraged the participants to always do their best in their respective mission of animation among others. She stated that the effort to educate is also an act of mercy and encouraged everyone to be visible faces of mercy through Salesian assistance that possesses the Oratorian heart.
On the second day, the theme studied was "Educate to Mercy" presented by Fr. Joseph Thannickal, SDB, Rector and Director of the Centre for On-Going Formation: Nitika Don Bosco.
He emphasized that the quality best suited to express God is 'mercy'. He then listed the elements to be efficacious educators: formation, experience, reflection, and action.
After lunch, the participants had a lovely time visiting the Tomb of Blessed Mother Teresa who will be canonized this September; and then going to the Sanctuary of Mary Help of Christians, and to Auxilium Gobra for a snack.
The encounter concluded with a short moment of thanks to the organizers and to the Provincial Community for their hospitality and availability, for the animation of the Liturgies and prayers, and for the Family Spirit that was created and breathed.
