Gratitude and Welcome
The Province of Our Lady of Africa (AFC) expressed its gratitude to the Provincial, Sister Bernadette Chongo, for her service; and welcomed Sr. Marie-Dominique Mwema, the new Provincial.
The educating community expressed its thanks to Sr. Bernadette Chongo for her service as Provincial lived with passion during her six-year term. Sisters, parents, collaborators, and young people had received her as a loving and attentive guide and confided to her their preoccupations and joys. Sr. Bernadette received a new mission in Madagascar as Provincial.
Sr. Marie-Dominique Mwema Mukato was nominated as provincial by Mother General. This is a sign of Divine Providence because Sister Marie-Dominique was the Directress of Novices of Sr. Bernadette Chongo and then was Provincial. For twelve years, she served the General Council of the Institute as a Visiting Councillor.
Sister Bernadette gave the key to Sister Marie-Dominique and said, "It is not easy to speak to one's own Directress, however I do it with faith in God." Sister Marie-Dominque joyfully recalled that Sr. Bernadette was the only young person in discernment when she was the community animator.
There was an exchange of reciprocal confidence and trust under the protection of the Virgin Mary. Sister Marie-Dominique received the blessing of the first FMA of the African Province, Sister Josee Vandevoort, a 97 year old missionary.
