Province of AEC: Salesian Tradition
The Sisters of Equatorial Africa write: «After August 8, almost all the Sisters of the Province of Equatorial Africa (AEC), gathered in Yaoundé for their annual retreat, took part in a few days of ongoing formation. The theme was: «Salesian tradition and Salesian traditions». Sr. Geneviève Pelsser, had come specially from Belgium and was an exceptional animator: competent and rich in experience in the area of the Salesian charism, and at the same time, capable of passing on content with great simplicity.
From the moment she arrived the group caught her enthusiasm and felt inspired to love and trust her.
Through a cross-referenced reading of the letters of Mother Mazzarello, the journey of the Institute, Maccono's biography, Don Bosco's spiritual writings and the Constitutions, she led the group to discover the typical aspects of Salesian tradition.
Here are a few expressions of Sr. Geneviève at the beginning of the encounter: On arriving in Africa by plane I said to myself "What a miracle to reach Africa!" Yes, it is a real miracle! This really touched my deeply. Reaching Africa and being with my Sisters, coming home, being with my family: yes, I really can say that! It is the miracle that began in Valdocco and Mornese. The miracle of the faith of Don Bosco and of Maria Domenica, who allowed themselves to be moulded by God, and we are the fruit of their faith, of their openness to God!».
