Second National Meeting of Social Communications and Youth Ministry
Committed to getting to know and study the phenomenon of youth culture in the view of Educommunication and ready to work "together" to construct aids on the theme, the social communications and youth ministry team of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Brazil met last March 28-30 in the province of Mary Help of Christians Carpina, Pernambuco.
On this occasion the group formed by FMA from eight of the nin Brazilian provinces moved forward in the drawing up of an aid . Initially, Sr. Maria do Socorro Tabosa (BRE),co-ordinator of EcosBrasil (Equipe di Comunicazione Sociale del Brasile), recalled the first meeting held in Belo Horizonte in March of 2009. Following this she shared the main reflections of the annual encounter held in Mexico City during the month of February. Then a few co-coordinators presented the journeys that their own provinces are making in the areas of Social Communications and Youth Ministry.
According to the program Sr. Silvania Cássia (BSP) presented a report on the experience made in the course of The Virtual Degree Program in Educommunication, promoted by Ecosam Sr. Maike Loes (BPA) presented the theme: Weaving identity between young people and culture and concluded her reflection with the video clip "Meter a colher" (Push the spoon).
On the second day the Sisters broke up into groups to share the material gathered on youth culture and beginning from the four areas of intervention of Educommunication: educate to communication, expression, and art, technological mediation and the education to citizenship. After this sharing, the groups developed an outline for the systematic study and formulation of texts that will be shared on specific dates throughout the year. This day also saw the participation of Sr. Giuseppina Teruggi, General Councilor of the Communication Sector who was present through a video-conference, presenting the theme Education, Communication, and Evangelization in the time of the Communications Culture. After this time, there was a brief comment on the theme and a return to the group work, concluding this day with an evaluation and prayer.
On the third day of the meeting, during the morning assembly, each group shared the study carried out in the preceding days and the proposal to continue the study itself. During the afternoon the FMA gathered by sectors where they worked on the conclusions and agreements proper to the group.
The two teams concluded the meeting convinced of the need to fortify working together so as to be able to offer support to the Sisters and the laity who share the mission of being signs and expressions of the Love of God in the different youth realities of our time.
On the fourth day there was a meeting of the group with the local culture. They assisted at the presentation of the Passion of Christ in Fazenda Nova.
