Formation Meeting for the Educators of Group Homes
Sanlúcar la Mayor (Spain)
The educators of the group homes of the Mornese Foundation met from September 29-30. The participants came from Almería, Granada, Jun and Jerez de la Frontera. The first part of the work was dedicated to the study of the Salesian proposal being carried out in situations of marginalization. This is the carrying out of the history, the spirit and the mission of Don Bosco and Mother Mazzarello when we are required to move with the times and to give new, concrete responses to young people, especially those who are most excluded.
The reflection was centered on the particular aspects that distinguish a Salesian educator from others working in the same sector. In the group work that followed, there was the study of a fundamental document that clarified the functions of the various types of persons who work in group homes: sociologists, psychologists, educators, etc. In the evening after the group sharing those present were able to assist at the various realities present throughout the province. The following day, after the Good Morning given by the provincial, Sr. Rosario Garcia, Dr. Teresa Baras Pastor, psychotherapist, presented her report. Drawing from her experience, she shared actual examples from the lives of the minors who are living in the centers.
The meeting concluded with the Eucharistic Celebration.
